So close to the end!

On Wednesday 28th June it was time for Solent to take over the baton.

The Worthing Hospital team safely handed over the baton to the Butlins team, albeit minus a team member due to a puncture, where Kieran, Kiera and Billy Butlins were ready to take receipt, with the next stage of the challenge sped off to Pagham by bike

The site team were joined by Hughes & Salvage and held several events over the day including taking on the Ben Nevis Climbing Challenge covering the height 1345 metres, and smashing  the record by 39 minutes

Pagham Mud Walk
The bike riders were joined by walkers to take on the Mud Walk, where the team were all hoping that Wayne had looked at the tide times and it would be in our favour. More luck than judgement the tide was out, and the walk began, with Jonathan James feeling a little peckish on the way and eating a Selsey Crab!

The walkers were met by Hannah and Michael, who after a quick drink in the pub to give Julian a rest took to the road by bike to complete the 5 mile ride to St Wilfrid’s Hospice.

Hannah, Michael and Julian were warmly welcomed by the staff and fellow volunteer cyclists at St Wilfrid’s Hospice, with tea and cake to set them up for the last leg of the day.

Good luck to everyone taking part from Solent in the next 2 day!! Lets hope the rain holds off for you.
